Stefania Boemi lives and works in Catania, Sicily. The pieces she creates are inspired by carefully researched objects from the past that elicit emotions related to memory.
With her collection of anthropomorphic vases master, ceramist Stefania Boemi pays tribute to Sicily's rich Moorish influence, reinterpreted in monochromatic colours. This representation of a Moor man is handmade of terracotta with a hand-painted matte black glaze, to reveal the stunning decorative details of the ornate headdress with luscious fruits framing the noble face. A band of gold foil highlights the eyes with warm and shimmering hues to add a captivating visual contrast.
